you approach the question well. as a muslim, i think women should not have to cover their face. it is not written in the Koran that we should cover our faces. it is purely a cultural thing imposed by narrow minded men.

Are you asking if WE (on this site) believe they should or whether Muslims believe that? As for the latter, I sincerely doubt it! Especially in public, is when a woman is expected to be covered, in varying degrees, depending on your "version" of Islam (it differs with many different countries, sects and governments...vis., the burkahs in Afghanistan vs. "kerchiefs" in places like Lebanon. I don't pretend to know the rules of each country, etc., but they are not all the same.

If you are asking what we think? I'm sure you'll get a barrage of answers! As for my opinion, I think women should be able to wear whatever they want, wherever they live in the world, without men, or anyone ELSE telling them what they can and can't do!

This goes, IMO, not just for Islamic women, but women of all religions and countries.

Its not written in any holy book that women have to wear a veil, it is male domination over women that has led to hiding behind it. In the UK we have freedom of speech and rights so if this woman wants to wear a veil she can, i bet if the next fashion item were veils we would not be kicking up such a stink lol. It will end up with messages on the windows of banks and supermarkets if it did though...along side 'no hoodies or helmets to be worn in here'

Maybe the fact that we think of robbery when someones face is covered has something to do with this question...
For Muslims, it is just part of their culture and religion.
Females traveling outside the U.S. are looked down on for wearing slacks or jeans.

Only when they talk to people or go into Banks, shops etc but if they want to walk around the streets wearing it then that's OK with me. I just think they need to make an effort to adopt British culture without entirely giving up theirs. You know 50-50 then most will be happy.

a sensitive answer, if they are going to do me something then yes, i want to be able to provide a full description. sorry to all Muslim women and gazawoman, but i have no problem with you wearing it, but it does lead to questions of what they look like i know ur religion expresses against this, but what if we needed to know, also i think airline checkers etc need to know and considering the world that we live in it's probably safer for them.

Yes - I find it offensive and rude - especially when it comes to wearing it for passport photos and driving licences - it threatens our safety and security and goes against my human rights!!!!

Why are you apologising for not knowing what the scarf thing is called?? Do you apologise for everything you dont know???

By the way............... why would this question offend??? If muslims exercise their right to 'freedom of speech' then why cant we???

Have we not debated this subject over and over again,,I am sure muslim women dont give a stuff about what you are wearing,,so why bother them,,if they want to wear a veil,,let them,,they are not personally hurting you. I am English thru and thru,,but I do believe that you should live like you want to live.

Muslim women, like every other woman no matter what their denomination, should be able to go out in public wearing whatever they jolly well like.

I only wish we could all go about naked - that'd bring us all down to earth. Mind you, then we'd start being wrinkleist, or freckleist. We'd find something to object to, whatever the situation.
