i have learned to type and yes it is a good skill to have if you use the a keyboard a lot however for most people that I know two fingers work very effectively. he just needs time to get used to where the keys are and he can do that simply by opening notepad and just practicing typing things that he sees in front of him or from a newspaper. in no time it will be second nature to him.

Just go to Google website and search for free online typing training. There are some good ones out there. Just be patient and look for the one that is free and easy to learn.

This may sound quite silly, but as a kid, I learned typing while having fun in a game: Typer Shark. I know all the other folks know about this, but it's quite helpful. Aside from that, there's plenty other software and programs out there that may help.
