You could be dilated 3 cm. for awhile. When I was pregnant I was dilated 3 cm for a month and I still gave birth 2 days past my due date. There are other factors besides being dilated that need to happen before you give birth such as efacement. Good luck

It's not uncommon for a woman to be dilated at 3 centimeters anywhere from 32 weeks til D-day.

It could be an hour, but probably not more than a week. If you can squeeze that one more cm out of yourself, you will be admitted to the hospital as 4cm is the standard for being admitted. 4cm also marks another stage of labor, getting to 4 can take up to 4 weeks or so, but once you get to 4, labor usually progresses at more of a scheduled rate, usually 1cm per hour or 2. Take a walk if you can still walk, and keep calling your doctor whenvever you feel discomfort so they can check youtr dilation.
