Ok I was at the grocery store the other day, and I was trying to park my car. I have a brand new chrysler 300 (its a big car) and I since the parking spot was angled I had to back in. The parking lot was full, and I had to try 3 or 4 times until I finally backed in, once I did, I realized that the spot was indeed too tight, and if the other people parked next to me tried to get into thier cars they might hit my car with their doors. I saw a car pull out of the first spot in the row, and I pulled out and parked in that spot instead, which was twice the size and I only had a car on one side of me. I got out of the car and took my two kids out of thier carseats. As I was putting my 3 year old son in the shopping cart, and old woman said "you should be charged with child endangerment with the way you drive!!". I was shocked and so offended! I wanted to tell her off, but I just walked into the store. Then I and watched as the old woman stared at the back of my car, looking for my plates.

no I was not driving fast at all! I swear, I mean how could I endanger my children going 3mph?!? She was actually waiting at the front of the parking lot because she was too lazy to walk to her car, and her husband went to go get it. It really bothered me, and I felt bad about it for the rest of the day. But I know I am a good mother, and I was hoping some elderly people could explain why some old people feel they owe it to the world to put in their (unwanted) two cents.

Her remark has nothing to do with her age. It has something to do with her being a nosy snooty twit, which crosses ALL age barriers. You should have told her to mind her own business. Or to go right ahead while you wait. Showing backbone to a bully in an assertive, but preferably not agressive, manner usually sends any aged "bitty" trotting away really fast. Stand up for yourself next time. You'll feel less resentful toward "groups" (aka: stereotypes) of people if you see them as individuals.

why do you think she said that.. did you maybe drive a little faster to get the better spot???
or maybe she was mad because you got her spot ??
anyway you did the right thing by saying nothing.
although i may have watched her closely around my 300..in case she felt a Little vengeful

You did the right thing in walking away.
Sometimes, silence is indeed golden.
Especially when dealing with those of us who
are in our golden years. And probably long on
advice, and short on tolerance.

It's not just "old" people. Society has gotten less courtious and ruder than ever before. But why do you let it get to you so bad?Think about that while you're fuming about a rude "old" bat.

Raising 4 boys, who are all grown now, I had one or two similar situations. I nicely asked them why they couldn't mind their own &#@% business.

I don't believe it's their age, it's called being a "busy body."
