I can speak conversational Italian and I have a Bachelors degree in Interior Design and Graphic Design. My husband is looking to study at the Politecnico University there for two years. Can I get a work visa and is it hard to get a job there?

Do you know anyone there who could help you out? Finding a job in Italy is very different than what you've experienced in the US. You need to know someone who is hiring or you need to have a big social network of people who can recommend you and pass your CV around. I would suggest contacting a work abroad agency that can place you in a temporary job. Check out this site: http://www.macquil.com for a list of agencies.
