From the TV pictures it seems there were NOT militants hiding among them when they were hit.
However there were many press and TV guys, some with camera on their shoulders that are hard to distinguish from rocket launchers at a distance. It's still hard to see why the Israelis fired though as at the stage they were hit, the women were just walking along.

No, the Israelis cant, Killing defenceless woman and children can never be justified. The politics between the Israelis and Palestinians go back a long way and recent actions taken by the west just after the war to provide a home for the Jewish Community by stealing land of the indigenous Arabs has caused the present unrest. Not only do the Jews want to steal more land from the Palestinians they have Buffalo Bush's approval to do it. Bush's advisers are all Jewish so it is not surprising that they or America could not give a toss about what happens to the Palestinians, How can you have Jewish people deciding Americas policy on the Arab world. Bush must sack Rumfold (forgive spelling) and Kissinger and the rest of the Jewish contingent and take advice from people with less of an interest in the politics of the area. Idont mean members of the Jewish community should not be represented but it is mad to have a Jewish representative dictating policy on a subject that he/she cannot give an unbiased view on.

Perhaps. The news related that these women responded to calls to come to the scene. The news related that some of the gunmen escaped in women's' clothing. In addition, it was reported that one to two gunmen were mixed in with the women. The shots fired were directed at the gunmen and not the women. Unfortunately, the women were hit. Remember, the weapons used are usually automatic and simply spray the area.
But lets keep in mind a few things. These fool gunmen will use women and children as shields. They will use mosques as a place to hide or fire weapons from. They have no respect for the life of their women or children, their religious sites, or even hospitals. So, when they utilize the women, children, mosques, (usually noted to be one of the most "holy sites," and what ones aren't "the most holy sites" to these lunatics) and hospitals, these same lunatics claim that the attacker...Israel or America.. disrespected the value of life, their "most holy site" or the hospital.
They have to get real. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but these nutmegs really need a touch of reality.

It's called survival of the fittest. Those women were so stupid they should be nominated for the Darwin awards.
They deliberately go into the middle of a gun- fight and then complain about being shot. How idiotic. The average intelligence of the human race just went up a notch.
As for Israel, if the claim these women make about how the Israelis just opened fire were true then they wouldn't be around to tell the tale. They must think the rest of the world is as dumb as they are.
Trying to protect mass-murder by mass lies.

No killing can truly be justified but these women were answering a call broadcast on Gaza Radio by Hamas to act as Human Shields , so I guess they will be looked upon as martyrs for protecting their menfolk who were hiding in the mosque.

No they can't, but then again they won't have to. They have not justified any shootings, and you'll never hear both sides of the story.

You know, if there are guns involved, I make sure I get out of the way. What did those stupid women think they were doing? Did they think they were immortal?
Guns shoot bullets. Bullets kill. Unless it is your baby or your husband, get out of the way! Do not go and take a stroll when there are itchy fingered, trigger happy crazies about, no matter which side they are on.
It's just common sense.

I don't think anyone can justify killing any innocent people. Murder is wrong. Even if someone is a mass murder, they should just be incarcerated forever. But if someone killed someone I knew, I would be a hypocrite and wish them executed or killed.
