It's for Remembrance Day which is November 9. It's called Veterans Day in the US. What country do you live in and do the people there also where poppies?

People wear poppies on Nov. 11 to honor the dead of two World Wars. Generally, the custom is followed among the Western Allied countries -- England and her Commonwealth countries, and the US. Russians do not wear the poppies.

and you 'wear' poppies, you don't 'where' them.
