Why do people commit suicide?

People commit suicide because they feel helpless to change an unbearable condition and hopeless than anything is going to come along soon enough to change their state of mind.

Do they come back into this world again? What happens after they die? What do you believe?

Have you ever had the urge to attempt/commit suicide?

I would be surprised if most people hadn't thought about it at one time or another-- as a teenager or in a midlife crisis. The key reason not to, is that no matter how bad things are, no matter how unbearable they seem, tomorrow is a new day-- you can lay your burdens down, and begin again in love.

What is the meaning of your wild and crazy life?

One can only speculate on anothers feelings and thoughts, we are not they and no one is a mind reader after the fact or before. Many have threatened to commit suicide in jest, and then really no one knows if they are kidding or not. You may think to yourself "Do they mean that?" But you see them laughing, so we dont know. But for the most part those that really mean it are those that have lost faith in themselves and all around them in this world. There are some that think failure in some task they were performing was so bad that they had to end their life, they saw no way out but death, and that is wrong. For every problem there is a solution. Patience is a virtue that mostly is acquired with age, and waiting sometimes gets the answers that remorse, sorrow, anger, all the negative feelings, dont give you. Happiness is the key factor, to shake the people out of depression with a happy moment, to give them faith that they will have an answer and that life is worth living. Some are in pain and cant tolerate this pain whether it is physical or mental and that is an act of rage without thought so mostly not planned but compelled. Rash behavior of that sort is not wise for there is always someone that loves us no matter what. Love is the main thing, when we think we are not loved and that no one cares, wait a while look in the mirror and say I care and smile and you will see the difference. We do not know what happens after we pass or where we go, but there are many philosophies written it is all interpretation, the main thing they wont be in that body and they wont be interacting with anyone human. Personally I have been depressed enough in my life to a point of thinking it once or twice, more like feeling sorry for myself though, not the urge, but in thought and passing, feeling like, "Oh the world would be a better place without me". And that was ridiculous because the world does not revolve around me, and that was so over dramatic, that I laughed at myself and shook myself back to earthly foundation with my thoughts. God Bless

I think humans commit suicide because they don't see a way that they can change their life, after being severly depressed for whatever reason and/or hurting themselves & loved ones, they decide not to cause anymore pain physically or emotionally, so they end their own life. I think suicidal people do come back to this world, this world is HELL, and I mean this literally (we live in a world of chaos and crisis, all around us). When these people come back they roam the earth until the end of the world when God comes to judge us. I have never had the urge to attempt or commit suicide.

There is no way of knowing why... those that succeed aren't around to interview and those that don't, probably weren't actually looking to die.

There is a wonderful documentary out now called "The Bridge." The filmmaker shot the Golden Gate Bridge for a year and captured 23 of the 25 known suicides - the film features about a half dozen. He interviewed the friends and families of those that died, the people who were unfortunate enough to be there to witness the people jumping as well as a survivor.

It's a respectful but unsettling film and answers your questions... by basically saying that they are questions we won't ever be able to answer.

Without a firm basis of understanding, suicide may seem to be a viable option to those enduring pain of some sort. It is too bad that there is no reward for suicide, not even a lessening of the evils that seemed real before they died. If suicide were man's friend and remedy for every woe, then what on earth are we waiting for? So basically, suicide is the action of one acting from wrong beliefs and misunderstandings of life and ones true nature.

There are many different reasons such as biochemical imbalance, guilt/remorse, drug and/or alcohol abuse etc.
But I think the underlying cause is seperation from their G*d. I think that is a loss than no one can withstand.

I believe that the souls of those that commit suicide do go to an "inbetween" place...neither earth, heaven, or hell and must spend time there before moving on.

Fortunately I have never lost my contact with God and understand my responsibility to take care of the temple and well being of my spiritual health.

People committ suicide because they are scared of living this life and want to take the easy way out.

They are also extremely selfish and are not thinking about anyone except themselves.

I beleive they come right back into this world to face the path they were meant to accomplish.

Committing suicide is cowardly and selfish.

(note to those who will be upset with my remarks I have many close friends and family who have committed suicide and I love them immensely. This is only my opinion so please do not let it upset you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and/or beliefs)
