Unfortunately, if that person in their heart does not want to stop drinking, then they will probably become really defensive when you tell them what you think. You might lose their friendship, but you know, its better to have a friend who is alive and might not like you for the time being, than to have a friend who is dead from driving drunk, overdosing etc. You need to do what is right.

You are proper, there is not any cause why you must be concerned on this damaging dating that allows you to best ultimately get you in main issue. I appreciate your emotions of short of to support him, however you stated you could have attempted and it does not paintings. If you may have attempted at the same time he's sober and also you get no reaction, I recommend you depart that comradeship at the back of. I consider you must inform him this someday whilst he's sober, off the medicines, and whilst he's calm. Explain to him that you just 2 was once first-class peers and feature a fine time in combination however in recent years all you notice is him destroying himself and the relationships round him with those materials. Tell him you hate to look him on this role considering that you deal with him plenty, and also you additionally hate that he's hurting the ones round him, adding your self. Tell him you are not able to be concerned on this anymore and that if he cares approximately you or any individual else in his existence he'll cross into rehab and get support for this. Good success with the whole lot.

You need to sit down and talk to your friend. Explain why you feel he needs to quit drinking........ or at least tone down a bit. Even if you take baby steps, every bit will help, i promise. Explain to him, that you care about him, and you don't want to see him wasting his life away. Give him positive reinforcement, and be there for him when he really needs a drink......try and stay away from bars, or parties, where alcohol is being served. :) hope that helps

Tell him. If he doesnt listen, have an intervention. Talk to his family & friends, all of you get together and tell him how much you care about him & support him and you want him to get help. As long as you're non confrontational about it, everything should go okay.

Just be honest with them. Tell them you are worried and you think they need help. If they are really your friend they will listen to you.

tell your friend that you care, and have a heart-to-heart conversation with him or her. as long as they know that you care, it shouldn't jeopardize your friendship.
