I think the answer you are looking for is what is called the rhythm method. Although it is more widely used to GET pregnant, some use it as a contraceptive method. It is not foolproof and you can still get pregnant, even if done correctly. If you are overly concerned about contraception, you really need to use the more preferred and more effective forms available today. There are so many devices, pills, shots and condoms available that you should have no problem finding one that suits you best. You also want to protect yourself from STD's so condoms are the best bet there. For more information on the Rhythm Method, click the link below. As I said, I wouldn't advise it as a means to prevent pregnancy, rather than use it to PLAN pregnancy. Good luck!!

The method you are talking to is the rythm method. I have included a great site about it but here is the summary:
The rhythm or calendar method is one of the 'biological' forms of birth control. A couple attempts to avoid sexual intercourse just before, during and just after ovulation, a time when an egg is exposed to potential sperm as it travels out of the ovaries and down one of the fallopian tubes. For typical users the rhythm method is less than 87% effective. The site does not discuss some of the tools you can utilize to determine if you are ovulating they include a test that you by at the pharmacy that is similar to a pregnancy test, monitoring your temperature and by observing your discharge and determining the consistancy of it.

You are still protected, but do keep in mind that the effectiveness of your birth control does decrease with improper use. Now, just missing one and doubling up the next day is not going to decrease your effectiveness that much. But yes, it will decrease it slightly. So whether or not you should have unprotected sex really depends on how important it is that you not get pregnant right now. If you absolutely cannot handle a pregnancy right now, then I would suggest sucking it up and buying some condoms. Better safe than sorry.

natural family planning?...it involves finding out when you are fertile and abstaining during that time...you check your temp in the morning (basal body temp), check cervical mucus, and some women also use ovulation predicting kits. other than that the only other natural one is withdrawal (or better known as pull and pray). keep in mind that these two forms of birth control are not highly effective. withdrawal had a fail rate of 28 coupes out of 100 in a year, and natural family planning has a fail rate of about 9 out of 100 couples in a year if done right...much higher if done wrong.

The ONLY foolproof method of birth control is abstinence. EVERY toher method has a failure rate, including surgical sterilization.
"Natural" methods (withdrawal, timing, etc.) are the worst. You WILL get pregnant eventually if you rely on those.

Try not having sex. That is the most sure fire way that you will not get pregnant. If your pants are to hot to contain the fire, just try the pull-out method. Though I must tell you that this is not 100% fool proof. You have to be careful using this method though. If your guy pre-cums alot, then this may not be the safest route for you go. Just go for the oral sex and try to abstain from having intercourse. You can also try mutual masterbation.

It's called the rhythm method, and it rarely works. Spermicidal jelly's help to kill the sperm and lubricate the vagina, if you are totally dead set against using something like cervical cap or something. Contact your local Family Planning center, they have all the up to date information on birth control.

1. abstinence
2. Withdrawal (Man removes his penis from the vagina when ejaculation is eminent)
3. Rhythm Method. (strenuously following your bodies menstrual cycle and only having sex when you are at your least fertile.) see provided link for detailed description.
Personal Note: I only suggest forms 2 and 3 of BC if you are in a monogamous and committed relationship They are the least effective.
