Basically a small and sorta legal way to cheat. It is a small cut the chase way of reading a story.

If you have to read a thick book and you are short on time, go to a book store and check to see if the title has cliff note available. It will save you some time in studying. I only recommend them when you are strapped for time. Every asignment use can get expensive.

"cliffs notes" are summaries of long texts or books. For example, a book like Gone With The Wind, it's really long, so you could get the cliffs notes for it and they would tell you all the major things that happen without reading the entire book. This is useful for book reports or class discussions for school, but if you like to read, reading the whole book is your best bet. Hope this helps.

Cliff Notes is a summary of certain books. Instead of reading a book, you can get the cliff notes and just read the important stuff. They also help you to understand the book better.

They are summary books for people who are too lazy to read the real book. They tell the key facts and the answers to the most likely questions a teacher would ask about the books. Luckily the leave out enough specifics that someone who reads just the Cliff notes will probably flunk exams anyway.

They are little books, sort of like pamphlets that give a very brief synopsis of a regular book. When I was in high-school and we were assigned reading assignments to read a certain book and do a book report, some people would just go to a book store and buy the cliff notes and do their report from that. There are cliff notes on many books.

Cliff's Notes are a series of books that give you the details of an entire book without you having to actually read it. You can find summaries of characters, chapters and possible test questions. You can find them at most major book stores.

They are actually called "cliff notes" originally so called as they "hang on" to the text, as an addendum. The TV game show Jeopardy popularized the term "Cliff's notes" as a play on words.

Actually, they are Clift's notes, usually black and yellow horizontally striped books that give you quick summaries of plot, characters and other facts that you would have received by reading the actual book. In Canada they are known as Cole's Notes.
