Like..if they don't notice until after you leave or something...what happens? Will they have security keep an eye out for you returning? And are the cameras recorded so that they can re watch it? How does the camera system work in general?

I guess they watch for you or try to figure out who you are, and yes, assume they are recorded. I think it is probably sort of a faulty system, considering the scenario you gave. I suggest not trying it though!

If they didn't stop you, they obviously didn't see you. If for some reason they watch the tape later and see that you stole something, they're not going to do anything unless: 1) They happen to know exactly who you are (name, etc.) or 2) You are ever crazy enough to go back in there. Some businesses have pictures of people they have caught shoplifting or have suspected of shoplifting posted on the walls of the managers office. It's possible to print out a video still of you.
If you stole something, there's nothing you can do about it now. Just stay away from the place.
Some places have cameras systems installed that don't even work. They are just there to make people too nervous to steal. You'll never know which ones are real so you have to assume they all are.

Depends on the system; some are set to watch afterwards if they find a problem (otherwise they don't usually watch it), or they have a ******* like spy room with people watching the live feed. If you got away with it so far you're probably fine but watch out. & if you steal again be careful and choose who you steal from wisely. **** corporate America right?

Depending on the amout you stole they can press charges and try to identify you, meaning that there would be a warrant for your arrest. They can also wait for you to come back and detain you until the police come.

your busted . don't go back to that store you might even be watching out for the cops if they notice your face they will come to arrest you . stop stealing maybe get a job is what normal peoples do .

Yes. They can hold you until the Police arrive if they see you again. Moreover, they can give a copy of the tape to the Police to investigate and try to determine whom you are.

Don't steal, and you won't have to worry about such things. They do keep video because they need it for court.
