Funny you should mention this. I just had the same thing happen to my son not too long ago.
It very well may be broken. Another possibility is that you could have sprained it, pulled a muscle that connects your finger to your hand, or did something to the tendon or the ligament.
Take some motrin every four hours and make sure that you tape the finger that is injured to the finger next to it. Ice it down for 15 minutes at a time every half hour or so. Immobilizing it and using the ice is the most crucial thing you can do for yourself at this time.
Be patient, because it will take at least 3 weeks or more for your finger to have full range of motion. How you treat it, how much you DON'T use it and how often you use the ice will determine the speed of your recovery.
If all else fails, and I'm sure that you know this, go to the doctors and get him to xray it.

This is a problem. You have deffinanltley broken. You need to keep it in a metal cast. No need to go the doctor because there is nothing that they can do for a broken finger. Some people say a broken finger does not hurt but I feel your pain I did that last year but in dance. You can take Tylenol to reduce the swelling and throbbing. But take it easy! Get to feeling better!

You'd be better off asking a doctor than asking on here! Someone needs to look at that finger.

Its hard to say without seeing it for myself. Show your parents or go to the doctors/hospital straight away because it could be infected.
