My virus program detected a trojan horse from a malicious website immediately. It said it was moved to a quarantine folder after attempts to clean it failed. Now it is quarantined by McAfee.do ineed to worry about it, or can i ignore it?

No, you don't have to worry about it, the virus is trapped and can't execute, however that would drive me nuts. Back up any and all files you want... and reinstall Windows... sure you could go and try to remove it manually but that's just a pain (and you've probably spent more time doing that than you would have reinstalling Windows). But if it won't bother you... then ignore it.

There are some viruses, especialy trojan horse type virus that are not able to be cleaned. So your antivirus system will put it in a secure "save", what is know as "quarantine".

Don't worry as it is very secure in the safe and has no way to get out unless you open the "quarantine safe and delete the virus.

I don't use Mcafee an I never had one virus to enter my computer in over nine years. I use Avast. They have a really good state of the art background scanner that is light years ahead of any other background scanner. Will catch in real-time and destroy before it ever enters your system. (Some virus are not able to be deleted and they are placed in the quarantine safe).

http://www.avast.com Updates two or three times per day on an automatic basis. And very low on resources.

If you are happy with McAfee, stay with it, but don't worry you are safe on how Mcafee, handled the trojan horse.

Sometimes if a virus is running in the background it cannot be deleted etc. Try starting computer in safe mode and then doing a scan and cleanup.

yes you do because the trojan will keep on recruiting more ways to penetrate and infect your computer....I recommend Adaware and Spybot

If using Spybot.....first check for updates...then Immunize then search & destroy....once done.....go to recovery option and it will recover the items cleaned.....select all the items then select purge then it will permanently remove those items

Once done...go back to Immunize one last time and it should remove whatever is left

After you do this....you will want to use Adaware to make sure it doesnt come back

And then....run Spybot one more time

That should work!

I agree it is in safe folder and can not spread.I have 7 in my avg virus vault and can delete them but it is in with my system restore so they advised me to leave them there and when i run scans it is clear.

Give up using Windows, and install Linux on your computer. Linux is immune to all viruses, malware, spyware and adware.

It's in JAIL, solitary confinement.
Unless you let it out, you'll be fine.
