drain the fountain, and put RV antifreeze in the pump lines to keep them from freezing and cracking. But beware. Any exposed anti-freeze is a severe poisoning risk for dogs, cats, birds, and children. Make sure that it is only in the lines, not puddled in the bottom of the fountain.

Not safe. It may cause a reaction to the animals or humans.
Check the material safety data sheet on the antifreeze product.

Just empty it for the winter would be the best. Cats especially are drawn to the sweet taste of antifreeze and will die when they drink it.

Absolutely not, as everyone else has said, antifreeze is highly toxic. If you do not want your birdbath to freeze then you should buy a birdbath heater available at many home and garden stores. Check it out. Always look for alternatives to chemical use.

Rv is not the same antifreeze as engine. Propolene glycol found in cake mixes vs ethylene glycol which will kill.

If you want to keep it running in the winter, there are non-toxic anti -freezes available. If you don't, why not just drain it, remove the pump, and turn the basin upside down to winterize? Look for pet friendly anti-freeze if you're just going to run it through the hoses and leave it in place.
