Historically, left field is the postion that is the "easiest" to play in the Majors. In sandlot baseball, right field is often where the worst player is placed because there are fewer people that hit the ball towards right.
Left field is often the smallest field with the fence closer. It is a shorter throw to third base than the other outfield position.
First base has been used as a postion for good-hitting outfielders that can no longer run as fast; but Gary Sheffield will tell you that it is not an easy position to play.
Catcher, shortstop, and centerfield are the hardest defensive positions to play as they have responsibilities beyond their own position. All three require quick feet and a strong throwing arm.

The hardest physically and mentally is catcher next is pitcher, first base is generally regarded as the easiest but to be an excellent fielding first baseman takes a lot of skills and Pujols won the Gold Glove. other than pitcher and catcher the hardest positions are short, followed by a tie for second and third then center field tie for right and left field and first is the least. But each position has challenges shortstops have to have a strong arm lots of range or be able to position themselves well second base lots of range and turn the double play well among other things. So in short Pujols is an excellent player

A lot of people think first base is the easiest position because they think all they do is receive the ball from the other infielders. Playing first base isn't as simple as it may seem. When you play first base, you have be ready for any pickoff throws from the pitcher and be able to field your position adequately. You also need to learn how to turn a double play as a first baseman; trying to throw the ball toward your middle infielders can be tricky with a baserunner in the way. First base may be the least physically demanding position on the field, but by no means is it the easiest; that may be the biggest reason teams play their power hitters at first base.

Mentally, catcher is the toughest position. Physically and this may sound lame, but pitcher is the most physically demanding.
The shortstop is the position where you require the best fielding skills.
First base is the easiest, mentally and physically.
Albert Pujols is an AWESOME batter. He is a very good first baseman, too.
I would not compare him with a top notch shortstop with regards to his fielding though.
As much as I dislike the guy, A-ROD is the best all around athlete out there, or at least top 3. This takes into account fielding and hitting. This year was an aberration regarding his fielding. I'm talking about his career.

The easiest position is probably Designated Hitter, however of the fielding positions I would say Right field maybe followed by Left fiel is the easiest. First basemen is probably the easiest of the infield positions - but it stops there. The hardest position is the catcher and just look at how few guys actually can really play that position well. No position is constantly involved (besides the pitcher) in just about every play.

The hardest postion is by far catcher. You have to be the on-field leader and call the pitches, place fielders in the right spots, and block balls. Also you have to make the pitcher look as good as possible. I would say the easiest position is DH because you just hit but that has its difficulties as well. The easiest on-field position I would say is second base. You have less to learn for this position as other positions. You have to know your cutoffs and base coverage and to an extent that's it. But the true answer to this question is gonna depend on who you ask. If they play certain positions they will be partial to thos postions.

most of these other people are idiots, along with your friend. Pitching or catching is probably the most difficult, and between those, probably catching. This is even coming from a pitcher. First base is perhaps the easiest, but it still requires a lot of skill if you want to be a professional. Digging balls out of the dirt, practically doing the splits, plus hitters still hit the ball to first base sometimes. Anywho, what makes Pujols so awesome is that he has so much power and hand-eye coordination.

In my opinion, catcher, pitcher and shortstop are the hardest.
Right field is probably the easiest.
First base is somewhere in between.
Again, this is only my opinion.
By the way, anyone who tells you that Albert Pujols isn't awesome is a fool. I'm a Phillies fan, so I'm not a specific fan of Pujols or the Cardinals, but the simple truth is that the man is an incredible ballplayer....probably the best in the game today.

Of all the infield positions 1ST base is the easiest. Among baseball players it is generally accepted the outfield is easier than the infield. But if your not good at the sport chasing a wellhit ball is impossible. My little league coach put the two worst players in rightfeild and third base. Third base because in little league anything hit to third is 50 - 50 at best even to the good players. Right Field because its the least likely place a ball will be hit. Yeh 1st base is a loaffing job to major leagers but the best in the feild ( gold glove ) at first is definatly a plus for your team. Check out the number of errors AP had!
