i think butane is heavier than air. because i sprayed some in a baloon one time to light on fire and it stayed on the ground

According to Wikipedia, the density of butane is 2.52 g/L and the density of air is 1.2 kg/m^3. I converted this in Excel and found that the two units are equivalent, so butane is about twice as dense as air. That means it's heavier.
