Just little things you notice, like the crows in the end of Dumbo, the skewed history lesson in Pocahontas, et cetera, not to mention the fact that only pretty people succeed in most of the films. What should you do if your kids/nephews/nieces/kids you babysit/ect. want to watch these, but you don't want them to go away having picked up the wrong lesson?

Some people will probably think I'm being oversensitive, or seeing things where they're not, but I've really put a lot of thought into this.

You're so right but a lot of what we see as adults goes over their heads. And a good thing too, because most the cartoons of today have adult undertones. And I think it's important to watch the film with the kids and get an idea of what messages they are picking up. If the crows are just funny characters to them, so be it.

As for the stereotypes themselves, it's not just back-in-the day. Look at (or listen to) the Lion King. It's set in Africa but only the minor villains (hyenas) were voiced by minorities.

And I remember when Gargoyles (a Disney-cartoon series) came out there were a lot of complaints because the heroes were "ugly monsters" and parents thought that was confusing their kids.

We got a long way to go...

YES they WERE. I'm only gonna complain if it happens NOW!@!!!!!! 1960's - it was basically legal to kill a black man in the south so racist cartoons have to be expected.

Regarding the skewed histories, you outta see what biased crap they teach in schools, I don't expect Disney to educate my son on history.

no, they are. they changed the lyrics to the aladdin song: "where they cut off your nose when they don't like your face, it's barbaric, but hey! it's home!

you won't find the version with those lyrics anymore because it was pulled. look up walt disney and the kind of man he was.

They were, nothing you can do about it, instead of trying to re-write history use it as a lesson to actually learn from !!
