The program used to be called defrag before windows took over. It should be in system tools somewhere. It will give you a map of memory and show stuff moving around as it works. If the system is still running slow after that, try closing up files that are hanging around in task manager or unused windows.

If your PC is running slow, consider your screensaver. It runs in the background. If it is full of graphics it will consume your memory. For this reason, I reset mine to blank.

Check programs in the Startup Menu. Only load those programs you use daily. Others can wait a minute for loading when needed.

In Intenet Explorer:
click Tools
click Internet Options
Delete Cookies
Delete Files (offline)
Clear History
Set days to keep pages in History to 0

Now, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools.
Run a Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, and a defrag.
If you do not do this regularly, it will take some time but you will find it worth it.

If this does not help, you may want to consider getting more memory.

Please let me know if it helps.

Go to Internet options in the control panel then delete cookies and delete temporary Internet pages, that might help
