They were fast, but they have the "Gen2" engine, also known as the "LT1". They're not bad, because this generation engine wasn't used that long (relatively speaking - debut in 1992 corvette ended in 1997 f-body) parts and modifications would be harder to find than the the later "Gen3 LS1" powered f-bodies, which is why you'd rather have a 1998-up. I have driven both (family has LS1 car) and a good-running LS1 has an advantage and will spank any Ford that doesn't have a supercharger.

As to the guy who earlier posted that GM hasn't made anything worthwhile since pre-1972, you're obviously ignorant, likely lying, or maybe just haven't raced your "gt" against someone in an LS1 car who knows how to shift.

the 94 z28 with lt1 will go 0-60 in about 6.2 seconds it has a generation 2 lti engined if you go with a 98 or newer you get a generation3 with a ls1 and it is about a second faster. the ss model is more desireable both are much faster than the older 305 camaros and the ls1 will still out run the new gt mustang but not the shelby version gt 500

theyr prety quick for what they are and will smoke the **** out of most mustang gt. even the v6 camaro can beat gt mustangs but if you get a 98 - 2002 then you got a car that breaks the 12.9 second range in stock trim eventhough the quarter mile times were stated at 13.7 sec

unfortunately stock camaros are slow as sh*t, I owned a Z28, 305 ci with 323 posi- rear, the car couldn't get out of its own way!!!! excellent handling car but slow, GM hasn't built anything worth buying since pre- 1972, buy a Mustang GT if you want a little performance
