It's kind of a crap shoot, just like when you buy a phone from a provider, the only thing is that if you buy it from the provider you can always take it to the provider if it's having problems. If you buy the Amazon one then you can't do anything if it's outta problem and your up a creek. Just get a phone from the provider, they're ussually cheap, you can get an up to date phone, and if you have problems you can just take it back to them.
Plus say it's a verizon phone that you are buying and you put it on a cingular network you won't get nearly as good of a signal as a cingular phone, plus if you have problems and they need to get into the programming they will have problems cause they won't have the programming codes.

you should choosea unlocked phone to use it with any services provider . if not, you must use it with the services provider who sell it for you.

What is Locked phone?

When you buy a cell phone a with some services provider such as T-mobile, Cingular, O2, Vodafone... They'll locked these phone with their networks. It mean you can not use this phone with networks other than the networks you currently locked to.

For example : you have a NOKIA 8800 locked to t-mobile so you can only use this phone with t-mobile services, can't use it with cingular, roger, fido or other networks

How to Unlock my phone to use with other networks provider ?

You can call customer services of your networks provider ask for unlock code if you currently on contract with them over 90days.

Most of old regular phone models ( nokia, samsung, motorola, nec, vitel, sony ericsson ) can unlock for free with a "unlock code calculator software" . You can download it at www.nokiafree.org

Some models: new, not popular or special case can't unlock by this software and must be unlock by special unlock code or software.

Once the mobile phone is unlocked, you can start using it on any cellular network worldwide without any restrictions and save money on roaming charges. You can also use two simcards in the same phone besides the fact that the resale value of the phone is increased

My phone can't unlock with regular method. How can i get special unlock code or software to unlock it?

You can buy unlock code or unlock software for almost all available mobile phone models on the world with www.eBay.com . Just type your phone's model name before "Unlock" word in eBay search box and click ENTER

For example : you want to unlock a HP Ipaq 6515 , Just type in "Unlock 6515" and press ENTER

Its safe. Unlock means you can use with any GSM provider (Cingular or TMobile) since its not locked to any provider. Just bring your phone into any mobile retailer and they can set you up. I am using one for 2 years with no problems.
