Republican leaders have realized that the more educated a person is the more likely they are to vote for a Democrat, so if they cut funding in our schools those cute, little future voters will vote Republican when their time comes because they won't know any better.

Republicans in Congress, working with President George W. Bush, have provided the reforms necessary to improve education for students in classrooms across the nation – along with the resources necessary to implement them. In recent years, the advantage the Democratic Party has traditionally enjoyed on the education issue has been largely erased, with Americans now recognizing Republicans as the party of true education reform and results for disadvantaged children.

Democrat leaders have tried unsuccessfully for many months to distort President Bush’s education record by making false and hypocritical attacks. When President Clinton proposed education budgets that technically called for less funding than “authorized” by Congress, Democrats supported him. When a Democrat-controlled House and Senate passed education bills, Democrats routinely appropriated less than “authorized.” Yet despite these facts – and the fact that Title I education spending saw a larger increase during the first two years of the George W. Bush administration than it did during the entire eight years of the Clinton administration combined – Democrat leaders have savagely and shamelessly attacked the President’s record on education funding in a desperate quest for political advantage.

Unfortunately for partisan Democrat leaders, those attacks have fallen flat. Americans continue to strongly support the centerpiece of the President’s education reform agenda, the No Child Left Behind Act, as a result of which the federal government is now spending far more money for K-12 education than at any other time in American history

THE MORE UNEDUCATED A PERSON IS THE MORE EASIER HE OR SHE IS TO CONTROL---PERIOD!!

Republickends don't want an educated people---they want us dumbed down so they can have their way with us. They want us busy working and managing our lives so that we don't have the time to research their politicking and their corrupt behavior. If your busy providing for your family then your not out on Pennsylvania Avenue with a protest sign, or at a peace march, or making your voice heard at the polls.

I notice all the righty's who attemped to answer this question are absolutely clueless as to the truth of my reasoning--Haven't they read anything about the ideals of their own party????

Why else are they so against Education-Teacher's-Teacher's Union's???
If you keep the salary of a teacher at a low level your going to lose those individuals to other endeavors thereby furthering the ignorance of our students. It's all about controlling the masses!!

What are you talking about? Republicans, such as myself, pay the same taxes you do and fund the educational system, the same as you.

Why do we not want to raise taxes? Because higher taxes strangle our economy and just because you throw more money at a problem, doesn't mean the problem gets fixed.

America already leads the world in spending per child, how much more money would we need to fix the problems? The problems are not lack of money driven, they are lack of utilizing the money already available driven.

More money does not equal better services. When will Democrats learn THAT?

It is funded, but they continue cutting the funding.

For the second year in a row, President Bush’s budget cuts overall funding for education – from early childhood education through college.

Educated people typically are not poor, and poor people don't vote. If they did they certainly wouldn't be voting for the party that's ignored them completely.
