It wasn't a joke but he told a group of college students that they "might get stuck in Iraq" if they do not do well in school implying that all of our soldiers would be too dumb to do well in college.

The first three answers are wrong. It was supposed to be a joke about how Bush got US stuck in Iraq because he didn't study or work hard in school. He left out the word "us' and the part about Bush. It was immediately preceded by another joke about Bush not being from the State of Texas -- he's from the state of denial.

He didn't called anyone "stupid"

He was talking to college students not "school children".

That he botched the joke just tell's you how clueless he is about humor and what lousy joke writers he has. I just hope no dems are considering nominating Kerry for President again.

Even Bill O'Reilly understood he didn't mean to insult the troops. All the attention on this is just an attempt to distract voters from the real issues.

He told a group of college students they could either work hard in school or "get stuck in Iraq."

Kerry told reporters in Seattle, Washington, that the remark was a "botched joke" meant to target the president, not U.S. troops.

It was a joke but he meant was meaning it to imply how Bush views those people... Not Kerry's point of view.

Remember Bush is also the one who said "Not all poor people are killers.... Just because your poor doesn't NECCESSARLY mean that you want to go around and just kill people"

What kind of idoit thinks that the majority of people actually view poor people like that.

If you look at the facts the percentage or republicans in congress are convicted of more illegal acts the the percentage of lower class citizens.

It was bad...he said that only those who didn't go on to college, and I believe he called them stupid or something, would end up 'stuck in Iraq'. Very poor form and really too bad for John Kerry. You can watch the joke on CNN.com.

He said the youth of America needs to go to College or they will be stuck in Iraq. Basically calling our military dumb.

he said something about how if students don't take their education seriously and don't finish, they'll be stuck in Iraq. Not what he meant....but put wrong.

There was no joke. He tried to cover up his statement by saying it was a botched joke but he was not kidding.
