i'm sure someone would have opposed them and defeated them sooner or later.
chances are, they'd tap phone lines, hold ppl in secret prisons without trials, rig elections, promote their friends even if they had criminal records, let the rich get richer at the poor's expense, and conceal all their crimes, affairs, drug habits, etc.
now that i think about it, it sounds kinda familiar.

Not cool. I wouldn't be here and neither would my boyfriend. Luckily his great-grandfather changed their last name around during that time for his family's safety.

I don't think they could have stayed in power for much longer. Nut jobs and megalomaniacal people in power always end up making huge mistakes and die (thank God).
