I saw a documentary about the many wonderful times Saddam would come out and play with the Kurds in the north. They all looked like they were having the time of their lives. Saddam did this crazy fireworks show for them, and finished the day off by burying them in the sand. It was nothing but smiles for all.

Key word is "had".

Iraq's always been a mess, just ask the British. But after Saddam had devastated the country after the Iran-Iraq war, the region WAS stable. Saddam was bad and was murdering his own people, but he was a check on Iran's influence over the 2nd largest oil reserve in the world (Iraq, Iran being the 3rd)

I'm sure the orphans of men and women who were beaten, tortured, raped and murdered under Hussein will be thrilled to learn that they have actually been living in a parallel universe. Thanks for the enlightenment.
