I believe in love marriage. Indian girls should have the freedom to date if they want to. Why? Because this is 2006, not 1906. I have an Indian friend who's parents arranged for him to meet this girl, and the girl rejected him because his skin is so dark. Now he has a complex about it. I believe in freedom of choice.

if it's a direct comparison (you are in love with someone and want to marry her, but your parents want someone else) so long as the girl is acceptable marry for love. If you are asking if it's better for your parents to arrange a marriage rather than wait for love go for the arranged marriage (if you trust their judgment). Marriages are hard work. Sometimes people fall in what they think is love and isn't. If your family knows you well, they will be able to pick a girl who will complement you well and will be a good friend. She will be someone your family likes and whose family likes you so there is less drama. Love is wonderful. It is also a state of mind that comes with time and effort. The ability to love others is humanity's greatest gift.

If you love someone before marriage, marry that person. If not planning to marry that person, better dont take that relationship too far. Many a times, love marriages tend to fail because what existed before marriage was infatuation, not true love. There is no chance for infatuation in marriage, so arranged marriages generally tend to be stable.

And, bye the way, let not your parents choose the partner for you. It is you who should choose your partner. Parents play the role of facilitators. They should sure help you.

Once you reach maturity, you have the freedom to date. It depends which society you are in. Why not if you are in US?. Only your and your family's preferences matter here.

I think u should go for your parents advice. They know much better than you as they have passed through your age. But still if u r in love with somebody then u can go for love marriage. But love marriages create problems afterwards. Indian girl are free to date but if your parents are against this you should not do anything that will hurt them.

I never like to waste my time without knowing wether it was the love or infactuation. So i like to prefer to love the girl who my parents choose for me so that there is no problem in getting success in the marriage or love.
