I don't think I've seen an episode for 15 years now, but this one question still keeps me up at night... well, okay, scratches in the back of my brain every once in a while. Although we never really see Robin during most of the series, except at one point where he appears in the shadows, near the end--perhaps even the last episode--Magnum contrieves a theory that caretaker Higgins, who's always seen at least once per episode writing his memoirs, is really the world famous author Robin Masters. I just don't remember whether any definitive support was offered for this theory before the series ended.

There is much speculation as to the exact identity of Robin Masters. Near the end of the series, it was implied that Higgins and Robin Masters might be the same person. If Higgins was actually the "real" Robin Masters, his identity was kept secret from Thomas. Some circles say that before the series was cancelled Executive Producer Noah Uzal was scheduled to portray Robin in the final episode. Instead in the final episode, Higgins admits to being Robin Masters, but at the very end of the episode, he whimsically tells Magnum that he had lied about Robin Masters, leaving viewers to wonder which version was the truth. Since the writers of the show never revealed Robin's "true identity" to the audience, it will most likely never actually be known.

In his way Stalin was another Hitler, and Stalin lasted longer in power, and died of old age, still in power. Stalin was in charge of Soviet Russia, a very powerful nation. Since that time there have been several dictators in charge of nations which have had wide influence, e.g.Ghaddafi in Libya (small nation by population, but big influence because of oil), Mao Tse Tung in China and Saddam Hussein in Iraq (oil, again, and look at the chaos in Iraq since he was deposed). Nobody can predict the future, but I would not be surprised to find a dictator in a similar position to Hitler at some time.

Actually, there was an episode that toyed with the idea. However, I think this mystery was part of the allure of the show.
