Well, I started this years in the January sales, by getting some really lovely gift wrap, cards, crackers and decorations at a third of the price they were! In March i bought some skin care stuff from an expensive makeup house, (Clarins) and got a handbag with a free lipstick, foundation, mascara, perfume and nail polish, that'll be a stocking filler....while taking a late holiday in Devon i bought some glass-ware and a couple of lambswool sweaters (should have been 90 pounds each) two silk scarves and a pair of real sheepskin mocassins for less than half price in an 'end of season sale' all this saving means i can push the boat out and give everyone a bit extra, and go mad with the food and booze!

I start mine in October by buying one or two gift a week I start by buying the smaller gifts first for neighbours, friends you never see but always come at Christmas with gift and so on. I buy the close people husband and children last.
I also start buying in October 1 box of chocolates each week with my shopping so come christmas week we have a table full of chocolate that everyone likes and in December I buy nice tins of buscuits.
Everyone who visits is always shocked at what my table is like and envy it but buying it every week is a god send. Mind you have to find a different hiding place each year so no one finds them or they would be gone! LOL

I started in October perhaps we are silly to start so early as the sales will start soon, but I hate the pushing and shoving and like to get it done as early as possible. I will still be running about after something on xmas eve.

every year I say I'm going to start early and every year I'm right out there with the crowds on the weekend before christmas AND on christmas eve. sad, I know, though I like the deals you can get on christmas eve. just gotta do some deep breathing exercises and meditation before I go cause people are crazy out there and down right bitter and angry about everything!
