He had the arm of a god, but the mind and emotional controls of a 2-year-old child. He was absolutely amazing sometimes, and at other times just horrible, usually because of poor decisions.
It will be interesting to see how he's remembered 20 years from now.

I don't know where the heck you heard that Jeff George is the savior of the NFL. He was highly regarded coming out of college, but his career in the NFL was mostly disappointing.
He set the record at the NFL combines by throwing a football 80 yards in the air...so he had talent, but didn't maximize on that talent.
He was awarded the richest rookie contract in NFL history up to that point, yet did not perform to his potential and ended up shifting between 7 teams before finally being cut in August, 2006 by the Oakland Raiders.

For some reason he always seems to win. Nobody is ever sure why, but everywhere he goes he has success for a year or two. Jeff George is just steady, and he is always the saviour or messiah to whatever team he goes to. Soon they find someone else that looks better and Jeff goes to help another team. Maybe he'll come for a stint here in Detroit and the Lions can go .500. I don't know, this franchise is beyond saving.
