then when you see them up close they are tiny!!!!
i saw that Van Damme dude he loks so buff and huge in the movies - i saw him walk by a door and he was barely taller thatn the doorknob it seemed - and a couple others i met look so big in movie and soooo tiny up close

I read somewhere (probably fallacious) that Tom Cruise stands on a box when he's acting to make him at eye-level with the other actors.

Camera angles do that trick for us. Also, sometimes they shoot scenes and then computer generate images to make them look bigger or smaller. Computers do most of the stuff.

the props and sets of some movie and tv productions are really small sometimes to give the illusion that the actors are bigger than they really are..
