I can understand that you don't like them but they are popular because of their lyrics, their music and the voice of Steve Perry.
There are albums without Perry that may be as good music wise and maybe lyric wise but I've found that when they have all the elements together then that is when Journey sounds good.
Having said that, the more recent album by Journey with Perry that I heard was a little "tired"; it isn't easy to consistently write good lyrics with good music without rehashing some of both.

because they are a classic 80s rock band that a lot of people grew up listening to so when we hear we kinda go back in time.. how old are you is your favorite band in the 70s or 90s or maybe it is a bit newer if you ask someone from a different erra than that on they may say the same thing it is all about what people like
