I have had a severe tooth ache for days now, I went to the dentist and they said that they thought my teeth were just being sensitve to pregnancy. But after a few days I could not take the pain . I went back in today, and they did a exray, but they double vested me. Do you think that is ok? I am only 7wks pregnant, so I worry cause the baby is still forming? And they gave me penicillian, they found that i had such a severe infection that it went into the bone. But should I be worried about the exrays, and being on penicillian?

Like you i am pregnant. I have there children and here I go again. During this pregnancy I have been on penicillin twice. I am 17 week now and my baby is fine. I was also taking it with my first child and he is fine. In fast he is highly advanced and started school at two and is now doing better than anyone else in his class. I don't think that they would be giving us anything that would hurt us or our baby.

Good luck

I hope you are feeling better sweetie....Xrays I know can be very dangerous in the early stages but if you had the vest on you should be ok. Don't worry to much about the penicillian . I was on antibiotics when I was pregnant and the baby was just fine. Talk to your Dr. about it and he or she will reassure you. Just enjoy the pregnancy and Congratulations on the baby. Good Luck and and God bless you both...

I am a dental Assistant and at the office we NEVER do x-rays on pregnant women. As for the medication does your Dr. know? Also if you are worried about the radiation go to your nearest suchi place and order miso soup. That rids the body of radiation and is a safe soup to drink anytime. Not to judge but next time talk to your obgyn. Dentists are Dr's for your teeth not for babies.

I think that you are ok, and yeah I know exactly what you feel like. I ended up getting very sensitive teeth towards the end of my pregnancy and man was I in pain "it hurt more than labor". Don't worry too much about it, if your still feeling uneasy about you can always consult your doctor about. Take it easy you need to relax, hope you feel soon better :)

1-2 x-rays...even without a vest is not going to harm the baby. They have a product in dental sections for sensitive teeth that you brush on them. It is supposed to last for 6 months. Get a tube and ask your doctor...call them to see if it is safe to use. They may want to see the tube to read the ingredients.

If you go to the doctor or even planned parenthood website or something or pregnancy.org, they have lists of medicine that are okay to take and when it is okay to take them. With the xrays, well it's unknown what effect they have on fetus's I think and they suggest as LITTLE exray exposure as possible. Good luck!

all of my family member is doctor. they never recommend me to do x-ray when i was pregnant. even though it's only for your teeth. penicillin is not good for you too. well...you've done this thing before you ask your doctor. I guess..pl next time if you had toothache, just take talenol. brush your teeth twice a day, and gargle with warm water + salt. it will reduce the pain and infection.
take care

I would definately reccomend that you talk with your OB becuase when I was pregnant they didn't allow any xrays even if I was wearing the vest. They didn;t want to take any chances, also ask about the perscription.

You should be fine. I had a lot of dental work done during both of my pregnancies. Just call your ob just in case & make sure about the prescription.
