The actor's name was Patrick Mcgoohan he was No 6. The programme was filmed in Portmierion in North Wales and they still hold Prisoner weekends there !!
The programme was an off shoot of Dangerman and the Character played by Mcgoohan ended up in "the village" when he tried to resign from the secret service.
