I know someone who got out of a porn addiction by going out and working out instead.
It has worked.

Addiction to porn is not what I would actually call an addiction. Like one which effects your mental and actual physical state. AKA: Booze, drugs etc.
It is a habit, and can be broken just like many others. Takes about 30 days to form the habit and bout the same amount of time to break it. It comes from routine, break the routine and break the habit. Chewing on a pencil, tapping fingers etc all the same stuff.
SOmetimes yes, it will take professional help but that is because there is a deep underlying issue. Something like your mom was controling, you watch the porn because of the way the the women are submissive and do exactly what the men want. Stuff like that.
Simple put, find another hobby. Hard to get a real date with a warm, hot, loving women when you have your face stuck in a Computer screen or the TV.

How to avoid porn addiction on the Internet
1. Consider installing porn content filtering software( Strongly Recommend NetDog ,you can get it from www.netdogsoft.com ) on your computer. it will help to protect you from stumbling into pornography by accident, That's important.
2. Do not try to guess what the address of a Web page is. Many pornographic sites have similar addresses of respectable sites. For example www . whitehouse . com is a porn site. The real address is www. whitehouse . gov
3. Never click on Web site addresses that you receive in an unsolicited email.
4. Do not open attachments that come in email that are unsolicited.
5. Use filtered search engines or reputable directories to find the information you need.
6. Do not search for terms like girls. Think before you enter a search term.
Stick with reputable sites.
If something looks questionable, don't let curiosity get the best of you. Delete it or close the window.

In the same area of your Yellow Pages as groups for other addictions will be numbers for sexual addictions. Two of the best are SAA (Sex Addicts Anonymous) and SLAA (Sex and Love Addicts Anon.). Both are 12-step programs that follow the principles pioneered by AA.
If that's not your cup of tea, a good counselor should be able to help you out. It's more expensive, but you get one-on-one time, and you might get some insights into the roots and consequences of your issues that you wouldn't through self-help groups.

How can someone be addicted by something that does not have a physiological affect on the body? It is a habit and habits are much easier to get rid of than addiction. Just decide to not look at it anymore and eventually not watching it will become a habit too. I just grew out my fingernails b/c I decided that I will not bite them anymore. I really wish you well!

Believe it or not, I was a female addicted to porn. I quit cold turkey. Prayed and stayed in church. God delivered me from it.

That is not easy. The occasional porn glance is not going to hurt most guys...but some get hooked on it easily. You gotta go cold turkey. If you glance at it even once, it'll open the door to it again. Good luck.

The only way to do it is to get help. First you have to want to change. Then tell someone. Then change your routines and limit your access. Get professional counseling.
I am a recovering porn addict.

What you need to do is ask Jesus Christ into your heart and be save. Start reading your word and find a good church who will help you grow in the Lord. God will help you change your habits to His habits. You must want this because there's no other way to be free from bad habits. God bless you.
