I work with my dogs on their special skills for their jobs. I have dogs that do arson, bomb detection, search and rescue and assistance work.

I might also refer you to "Tron" (another movie), or John Varley's excellent short story, "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank", also, if memory serves, a PBS movie (no theatrical release of which I am aware.)
Not too far off the beaten track from here is Harlan Ellison's "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream." Or you might refer again to John Varley and his novel "Press Enter": simply disconnect. (Yeah, yeah; more easily said than done, I know.)
