The risks of getting it can be just as dangerous as not getting it. I work in the medical field and vaccinations can have very serious side effects. That is something you have to research. I know of at least 3 infants last year that died within 1 week of getting a flu shot. They received the shot and within a matter of 2 days were admitted into the hospital with flu like symptoms and ended up dying. Weigh your options. I opt not to but I already lost a baby due to vaccinations so I take them very seriously and spend a lot of time researching them, as I tell a lot of the patients where I work.

Yes, my six month old had a flu shot last year and she will have one again this year. Any risks are minimal compared to the risks if she were to get the flu. I always got the flu before I started taking flu shots. I can't imagine my baby having the flu. I feel it is my duty to protect her if I can.

First off, the major pro is the child is vaccinated against influenza, which is the worst kind of flu and can be fatal, especially in infants and elderly. Secondly, why are you asking medical advice like that on here? Ask your doctor!!! My daughter is receiving her first dose next Friday (children receiving their first flu shots need two doses) because her doctor said it was best for her, so that's what we do. Follow what your doctor says....not these ding bats!

Personally, I think the possibility of a baby/young child getting the flu out weights any potential danger in them getting vaccinated. The flu could cause death in a child younger than two. EVERYONE in our house gets the flu shot. EVERYONE.

I never did before, but this year I gave my kids the flu mist. I am glad I did b/c my daughter started school this year and will be exposed i'm sure. The flu mist works faster than the shot and is not painful to them at all. It is just like a nasal spray. Also, it will not make them sick.

The reports say that it's safe but I don't get my daughter a flu shot because she isn't in daycare and doesn't participate in many play groups. She's 17 months old. My husband and I are very big on hand washing and Purell. We also cover the high chair and grocery cart when we go out with one of those covers that you can get at babies r us.

my son was getting flu shots as soon as winter came and he was 7 months old...some dont believe in flu shots but every single doctor assures me that it helps you from getting the worst kind of flu...i could have argued about that one last year...my son got his flu shot and around march, he got severely ill...he had the flu for 2 week, vomitted for 10 days, was dehydrated and i honestly thought that he was going to die...so i could easily say that the flu shot didnt work for him last year, but then i could very well say that it helped him from having a worse case of flu than he had already...

who knows...i do think that the flu shot has different effects on people...

I had my daughtere who is 11 months old get a flu shot and she has to go back at the end of the month to get the second one. I don't think that it is dangerous. I also had her oldest brother who is 6 get his flu shot because of his asthma and he too has to go back at the end of the month to get the second one.
