hey i live three hours from my mom and i know someone who is giving away rats my mom really wants them, she asked if i could mail them but i dont think so how do i get them to her?

3 hours eh?(sorry I'm Canadian and it slipps out sometimes...) What about the greyhound bus? They ship parcels, DON"T tell them they are live animals, just write perishable and fradgile on the box and put plently air holes... Most air lines can ship live animals, it can be costly (it's $75 to get a bearded dragon shipped to me across Canada). If not try freecycle or cragslist and ask if anyone is willing to drive them to your Mom. You'd be surprized how many nice people are out there and willing to give you a hand, just make sure they are in a secure box and if they are crossing any borders make sure they are allowed to cross them first. Maybe not really "mail" them via USPS, but you could probably ship them -- look at local shippers for shipping "live animals" or look at DHL or UPS or a similar national shipper. It will likely cost you quite a bit, because of the special handling requirements involved in keeping your rats safe and alive.

It is VERY Cruel if you box them up and send them to her- find a friend who drives and ask her to bring you and the rats over to your mom. I am a Vet from the Pox&Sox Pet Vet- and i approve this message
