I was 11 when I first got my period and I waited until 16 to use tampons. It's all about personal preferrence but as one of your other answerers mentioned, the risk of toxic shock syndrome is much higher with the use of tampons.

I was 12 when I first used tampons. They are the main thing I use to this day.

I was about 16. I'd been having my period for about 5 years before that but my mum didnt like the idea of me using tampons so young. We got a free sample in a bag during sex ed class and I loved them (well as much as you can love something involved with you period lol) I stopped using them after having my second child because my periods were to heavy to use them

I got my period exactly one month before my birthday, and I hated pads. The next month... 2 days before my birthday, I just grabbed my pocket money, went to safeway bought a box of tampons and tried them. They're really easy to use after you get the hang of it... I am still 11... but after tommorow I am 12... to give you an idea of how old I am. As long as you get the right absorbency, change them frequently and with good, clean hands... your chances are slimmer then an anorexic person! They hurt a tiny bit when you put them in/take them out, but it's no big deal! Try them if you haven't! They rock! Just use pads to go to bed.

13. I started using tampons the second month I had my period. It was so much easier.

I was twelve when I started menstruating, and thirteen (ninth grade) when I started using tampons. I have now reached menopause, and looking back, I think pads are the better answer, unless you are going swimming.

well girls develope at different ages. i started my period when i was 10. i am 16 now, but i have never touched a tampon.

i started my period when i was 12 and i was 13 when i started to use tampons... i will NEVER again use a pad.
