Hi. I am an 18 year old community college student in his first semester. I graduated high school in earlier this year.

All my friends have minimum paying jobs like a Jamba Juice or Abercrombie.

At times when I sit here in my room I think about getting a job that can pay better than the jobs my friends have. My friends dont have anything to put down on their resume but I feel I do providing that i started and ran my own ebay business starting at the age of 15.

What are some jobs that I could possibly get that would be fun, pay well and not distract me from my studies?

Thanks!

i have been searching for such a job for the last 6 years of my college life.... haven't found that ideal job. what you are asking for doesn't exist. because if it was that great of a job, it WILL distract from your studies! the best way to get through college is by having such remedial jobs. they also serve as a distinct motivation for continuing with college & getting a GREAT job.

i suggest continuing with the ebay business because you can work as YOUR schedule allows and add & drop hours as YOU need to. things come up in college, and it really does help to have a flexible schedule.

You kind of went ahead of me when you mentioned the ebay business. I was going to tell you that your friends should be running a small business with the small saving they've accumulated. Especially in there second year. It will prepare them for the agressive nature of bargaining in reality. You did the right thing with ebay, but going out into the hands on world and demanding to be taken seriously will both make you more money and build you confidence on a daily basis.

Outside of that call centers pay a decent amount compared restaurants and offer part time hours often.

A great job for college students (if you are a hard worker) is through working at UPS. They pay at least $10/hr and also offer tuition assistance programs. You work hard for your money, but it's totally worth it! Good luck!

If stripping is out of the question, try something unionized like supermarket employees, or a security guard (you can study at night).
