My boss is also my neighbour and she has fallen out with my parents over my little brother, as he and her son don't get along. She told me today that is is very upset and annoyed with me as i didn't tell her that her son wasn't invited to a halloween party at my house on tuesday. I have to work with her tomorrow and am dreading it! I usually get the bus to work with her and she also said she didn't want to do that anymore, but then changed her mind 2 mins later! after this my mum was annoyed as i was upset and went along to see her! What should i do?!

If she is your boss, she should be poffessional enough to keep her private life outside work instead of mixing them both.

As for her son not being invited to your little brothers party, that has nothing to do with you, just make that clear.

Your boss is obviously intervening with your social life, complaining about her child not being invited to your party, is extremely childish. I think you should try to get your mum and boss to talk it over, explaining that your brother just doesn't get along very well with her son, and it's nothing personal. Hope it goes well for you and good luck!

Be open about any disagreements you have. It will only get worse if you try to 'sweep things under the carpet' and try to pretend things are OK. As your boss, she has legal obligations to you which you shouldn't forget. It's in every body's best interest to get on with each other, including the boys. Be open and frank. Good luck...

I guess both your neighbour and your mum need a little cooling words. It would help bring down the tides of annoyance. After that, you've got to sought out things.

Goodness! Tell her that you don't feel personal problems between your family and hers should interfere with your professional relationship. remind her you don't run the household and that if she has a problem with her son, your brother or your parents that she should take it up with them. You have a professional relationship to maintain and ask that she will respect the fact that you do not want this to affect your professional relationship.

good luck!

Tell your your boss that what happens out of work should stay out of work and if she starts to make you feel uncomfortable at work then you will have to seek legal advice. She changed her mind so quickly because she realised it's not your fault which it isn't don't take any crap.
