why does DeBeers have a feud on with the united states?

They are being charged with antitrust violations. DeBeers controls what 80 percent of the world diamonds at one time. And was accused of artificially keeping the price of diamonds high. In 2004 they pled guilty and paid a $10M fine. See link for further info.
