Because life is all about desires. we desire certain things therefore we must act in a certain way to get what we desire. No matter how many of our goals we reach, there will always be an unattainable one somewhere in the distance ( like the horizon). I think this is positive in some ways, it might motivate us to strive harder. On the other hand, if people forget all about the goals they have achieved and the desires they have realised and only focus on the things they do not have it can make them terribly miserable, envious people.

It is good to desire more, but necessary to sometimes stop to think about what we have.

Much like what Courage said above, the fact that humans strive to achieve ever more is one of our greatest strengths.
If we were satisfied only with having enough to eat and somewhere warm and safe to sleep then we would be just like other animals. Ambition is one of our strongest motivators, and we should make full use of it. But it is equally important to be able to appreciate what you already have and thoroughly enjoy your life.
The fact that you weren't satisfied with not knowing the answer to your question is admirable, but don't let it keep you up every night!

Because most people don't know this particular secret of life:

Always believe you have enough.

When you believe you have enough, you create the reality of having enough.
When you constantly 'want more', you create the reality of constantly wanting more.

Having a hard time believing you have enough? Consider this: when's the last time you starved to death? I rest my case.

p.s. this doesn't mean you will be settling for whatever lot you have been given.... instead this attitude frees you to build the life you deserve rather than wasting your time focusing on what's missing.

i think of this is plenty like actual soreness. in case you stub your toe and ruin it, it incredibly incredibly hurts. And it overshadows the reality that something of your physique feels fantastic and would not injury. All you could think of roughly is the soreness on your toe. thoughts artwork an identical way.
