I've seen that sentiment a lot today.

If you don't believe that people of the same gender can really love each other, why not?

If you do, why?

I'm genuinely curious. I'm 50/50 bi; I feel as strongly for my wife as I ever did for a man, and that is *strong*.

I think some people believe that (not that i do) because physically a man and a woman are compatible with each other. Penis + Vagina = Normal.

I am 'straight' ! The first part of your question is not really worthy of an answer because we do know it is possible for two same sex people to love each other! We see and hear about it every day. And that is the reason why we do believe!! So both parts of your question are now answered.
That's not what you are after though is it?
You feel as strongly about your wife as you ever did for a man!!
How do you think that sounds to a 'straight' person? A woman saying she loves her wife!!
I have been called 'homophobic' many times!
To my mind homophobic is a word made up by same sex couples to indicate a fear of homosexuality, and give some sort of justification for their own sexual activities. I am certainly not afraid of homosexuals, in fact I really do pity them!!
You cant put me down as a religious nutter, I am atheist, so I couldn't care less what Christians or any other religious group think about your activities!
I used to be amused about this homosexual thing that was ongoing, then one day in the UK they decided that it was no longer illegal to be performing these acts. I also remember a friend of mine saying at the time that he didn't really mind it being made legal, but he was a bit worried in case it was ever made compulsory!!
Now I just feel sorry for the lot of you, no longer disgusted just sorry!

Because "most" straight people are so afraid of being gay or having any feelings for the same sex. They are taught that having an attraction to the same sex is bad and a sin and they will be ousted by society.

well, yeah i can see why a woman would be attractive to another, women are the attractive sex and some are so hott. It's men i'm just so uninterested in, that i can't see what another man would see in one, and the thought is a bit gross for me. I don't react from prejudice but from the grossness to me.

well i dont want to upset you.....but have you ever heard of NAMBLA

some men feel that strongly for little boys. just because you "feel strongly" about something doesn't make it right.

this is a way of saying "if it feels good, do it"........
