So far none of the answers are completely correct.

Oxygen is an element - atomic symbol = O

Oxygen is normally found as a diatomic molecule O2 - meaning two oxygen atoms bound together

O3 is ozone - a molecule that contains 3 oxygen atoms. It is highly reactive. In the upper atmosphere, where it is naturally produced, it absorbs ultraviolet radiation, protecting life on earth from severe UV damage. It is also a component of air pollution that is very hard on the lungs, can make your eyes burn, etc.

Lightening also produces ozone. This is what causes the slightly sweet smell that you detect following a lightening storm.

O3 is Ozone.. Which is still a form of Oxygen

O2 is a reference to having two Oxygen Atoms in the molecule, when you add a third, it's still Oxygen.

An "O3" is also a kind of star, but I'm guessing that's not the answer you were looking for.

Ozone (O3) is a triatomic molecule, consisting of three oxygen atoms. It is an allotrope of oxygen that is much less stable than the diatomic species O2. It is present in low concentrations throughout the Earth's atmosphere. It has many industrial and consumer applications as well as being used in ozone therapy.

Ozone, the first allotrope of a chemical element to be described by science, was discovered by Christian Friedrich Schönbein in 1840, who named it after the Greek word for smell (ozein), from the peculiar odor in lightning storms.[1] The odor from a lightning strike is from electrons freed during the rapid chemical changes, not the ozone itself.[2]

Typical oxygen gas has two atoms of ozone bonded together. If you add an extra oxygen atom it forms the very strong oxidizer OZONE. The third oxygen atom will easily leave and react with other materials. You can smell ozone after lightning strikes or when your laser printer starts up.

Ozone- it is a resonant structure that occurs when O2 is broken by UV Rays and collides with other O2 molecules. This absorbs the UV Rays, which protects us from them. That is why the Ozone Layer is important. At the same time, you REALLY don't want ozone in your lungs.
