I really don't think I'm anorexic and I'm really hurt by her comment. I know that I'm thin but I'm not grossly thin. I mean I never starve myself or make myself throw up or anything like that. I actually eat more than girls my size usually do. I just can't seem to gain weight. I'm just a bit under 90 lbs (5' 5" tall).

My honest opinion is that being under 90 lbs and 5'5, that is pretty small, but if you eat, than you should be fine. You probably just have a fast metabolism. Anorexia is a disorder where you starve, or are making yourself throw up. Obviously you're not , so don't worry about what your friend said.

My daughter has the same problem--people think she is anorexic also and she is 5 ft--80 lbs. How old are you may I ask--she's 25. She eats well also and just has a high metabolism which you probably do also. She was teased all thru high school as being anorexic--My advice--don't worry about it unless you feel unhealthy then by all means see a doctor-and let your "best friend" know that it hurt your feelings and if it doesn't bother her that it did--find a new b/f. Good luck to you!

you should calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index) to see exactly how thin you are.

BMI = 703 X [ weight / (heightxheight) ]

*height in inches

It is being used by many doctors worldwide to calculate exactly how underweight/overweight is a person. If your BMI is between 18.5 to 25, you are perfectly fine. If your BMI is more than 25, you are overweight. If your BMI is below 18.5, you are underweight but if your BMI is below 15, you might have some eating disorders.

People too often misunderstand what is anorexia. But as long as you are having at least three proper meals a day and your BMI is in the healthy range, you are fine. If your BMI is under 15, it may be best to consult a doctor, especially if you are not having regular monthly periods.

People suffering from eating disorders usually do not know they are and it is much more common than we think. Don't so quickly assume your friend is jealous, she might just be concerned.

Don't worry about what she is saying. My best friend had the same problem in her twenties. Her doctor even went as far as to write it in her charts without her knowledge and once while waiting for him to come in to check her, she looked at her chart and show the comment in her records. She bought it to his attention and he told her that he thought that she suffered from anorexia. She has never starved herself, I have seen the way she eats and believe me she is not starving but she had a problem gaining weight. However now that she is in her forties, she has picked up weight and it looks really good on her. My son is 13 years old 5'7 and weighs 116 lbs and when I asked his doctor about his weight he told me not to worry, because he sees a lot of overweight children and that my sons weight is not an issue.

hey girl hang in there! I am 32 with 4 kids 5'4" and weight 96 lbs and have weighed 96lbs since i was about 15 yrs. old. It is all about how you feel. for me I would like to have about 20 more pounds on me. So i went to doctor and got some meds to help me gain weight. People tell me all the time they wish they could be my size. to me it is a curse not a blessing. I can wear my 7 yr old daughters cloth. not a good thing. so if your happy with your self and the way you look and feel then don't sweat it. best of luck.

No u are not anorexic because i am 18 5'5 and 115 pounds and people call me that all the time thats a sterotype for skinny people. Besides an anorexic starves theirselves and make thierselves throw up. i dont think u should let what others say get to u either. i been called that all my life and i know im not anorexic. i dont mean to be rude but your friend is ignorant

I know how you feel I am less than 100 lbs (5'1") but I eat large meals about 5 times a day. If you eat regularly your not anorexic just good metabolism. Try not to let it what your friend says bother you maybe they are just jealous.

well, it sounds like an unhealthy weight. do u think u look good at that weight? would u feel better if u could gain weight, or would that gross u out? if it gives u a negative feeling to gain, say, 20 pounds (because even at a 20 lb gain, u'd still look very thin), then u might very well be anorexic. look at the feelings u would have to picture urself heavier. if it makes u feel loathsome, then u need to seek help from a mental health professional and dietician.

well by your height and weight you sound like you look anorexic but i mean if you eat all the time and dont throw it up or excersize it off then you are not.

ooo and tell your friend that her comment really upset you and that you are not anorexic. also try to make it a habbit to eat ALOT around her so that she knows you arnt and try not to got the bath room after eatings so she doesnt think you are throwing it up.

The reason she said it is because you appear to be about 25lb underweight! Now you may just have a very small frame for your height or high metabolism, but just have your doc check you out and make sure everything is ok. Your friend is probably just concerned, I don't think she meant to hurt you. HTH : )
