You should really have confirmed in writing [and kept a copy] that you wanted a weekend off - bosses are so forgetful!

However, if you have looked in the book and he hasn't entered your holiday, did you notice if he had put anyone else down for next weekend? If he hasn't I suggest that you go and see him straight away and say -

"I just want to remind you that I'm on holiday next weekend, you remember I booked it with you 4 weeks ago, and I just want to let you know I will be back in to work on ..... at the usual time"

If you ask if he's put you in the book, you give him a chance to say he doesn't remember. So you take the high ground like I've suggested above - be positive and confident - don't give him room to put you off!

Good luck.

Just give him a friendly reminder. I don't know whom you work for, but what I do to all my employees is that I advise them to email me directly there request. By me replying with an acceptance response/approval the day can be taken off. If the day was approved verbally and he remembers the conversation you will be ok

Inform him/her nicely that you are delighted that you have now confirmed your holiday, and how delighted you are that he/she has given you this period of time for your holiday. This puts the ball in his/her court, ignore/make out you haven't noticed that he/she hasn't made note of it in the holiday book. They will feel obliged to give you the time of and mark it into the holiday book. Note: This is their error not yours, use this fact to your advantage if you have to!

Tell the boss that he verbally accepted it! If that don't work - you are s c r e w e d and will have to miss your holiday or get another job!

If you booked the time off then it is your boss's responsibility to make a record of it.

Point out the omission to him. Just remind him that he gave you the day off.
