Most of my closest friends freely admit that they disliked me, very much, when they first met me! I have never been able to soft soap people, and speak my mind to anyone who will listen, so I guess I can be quite intimidating at first. It's only when such friends get to see me from all angles that they understand me much better and can appreciate that I have a softer side, whilst remaining a strong character. All those friends will be friends for life because they took the time to get to know me...

I suppose it depends on the person.
I'm closed up around certain people due to instinct. As a result, they close up around me.
After many bad experiences, i don't warm up to people right away and i don't expect them to warm up to me.
I've made myself an acquired taste. And i'm not entirely sure i'm happy about that.

I am most definitely an acquired taste.
I often respond to the "warming" of others with well-rehearsed frostiness because I'm not, by nature, particularly friendly, sociable or gregarious.
And happily, others tend to react to that by staying well away from me and writing me off as unapproachable or too moody to bother with :o)

Dragon is pretty much an acquired taste. Gotta get used to her before you can appreciate her.

I'm an aquired taste to some because I can be pushy, nosey and overfriendly, and some people are put off by that. The longer they know me though, the more they realize that I'm just plain crazy (lol) and that I have good intentions.

Cat is an accomplished bs-er. Cat very popular with 4 or 5 people...everyone else has to learn to know Cat before they like her...Cat, however, requires time to get to know people. If your lap is warm and soft, many times Cat makes a snap judgement.
