Isn't it time just to can the whole pseudo-sport. I would think that the whole concept of dancing girls to cheer male sports is just outdated. Now that women have sports of their own to play, I think cheering can stop. Besides, it's just degrading.

Why not just continue to have equality?

your wrong and I cant help but say I think if it were not for the cheer leaders so many people would not get involved in the sports, its only degrading if your putting your self out there just so the guys can watch you in those short skimpy skirts ....oh ... damn.... but aren't there guys also out there involved in cheer leading as well. Yes I am a guy and I don't really care much about sports in general I would much rather be playing than watching but the cheer leaders do a lot to boost the ego of the football player who is doubting him self after he Miss's the throw down field to him....also do you know that there is actually cheerleading chamionships that they go to aside from just showing at games

It's not just dancing. It combines gymnastics, dance, and even some aerobics. It's a good way for girls who enjoy doing that to stay active. The image that surrounds cheerleading is what's degrading. Me, I'm a swimmer, and have been loyal to that for 12 years. We have cheerleaders who come to cheer on the girls sports too, like volleyball, swimming, soccer, and we even had some come to one of the Girls' golf game.

lol, i was at a football game last week and the cheerleaders were chanting "Touchdown, skyhawks touchdown!" and they guy next to me yells "WE DON'T HAVE THE BALL CHEERLEADERS!" I thought it was really funny.

A lot of my frends quit cheer this year and decided to do cross country and soccer instead.

If it is outdated, why is it so popular? Cheerleading will never be outdated until dancing, gorgeous women are outdated.

Cheerleading gives like an 80s air. It's kind of a clowny, circus thing that doesn't go along with modern times.

High schools should do what colleges do: involve more guys and more stunts. It isn't an easy sport when done well.
