I think that pets can provide outlets for relieving stress. However, it cannot cure any disease. They can only offer you palliative care. So the best explanation is the your pet probably takes your mind off of the fact that you have thyroid problems. It relates to your thyroid because the hormones it produces, for example if yoiur thyroid is producing too much hormone then your heart rate may increase and stuff and a stress reliever would help dull that problem.

Sure, there is an old saying taken from the book of proverbs, "A merry heart(being happy) helps keep one healthy, but a broken spirit(thinking depressive thoughts) dries up the bones(makes one sick)."

I firmly believe that having a pet which provides you with love and comfort, which definately help a person with any kiind of ailment !!!

what kinda pain does your Thyroid cause? anyways, yes I beleive that animals give us so much unconditional love that it almost "cures" us at least emotionally so much that we can't feel pain physically? I don't know that's how I feel when I'm with my dogs :)

It is scientifically proved that animals help with many different types of illness. Just the peace and calm they bring with their unconditional love and trust of you brings you relaxation, which is paramount to the healing process. I am glad your bunny and you have each other. Good luck!
