Why not just live with the girl. If you love her why do you need a piece of paper. And if it doesnt work out you dont get financially ruined in divorce court. The medical benefits that come with marriage arnt worth squat if both of you work full time. Prenuptual agreements can be protested in court and made void. The only reason I can think that a man would want to get married is if he is crazy.

Because marriage is a ritual that ultimately connects 2 families, 2 cultures, 2 communities in the eyes of God. The joining of the 2 people is just a catalyst to the joining of everyone else. The 2 people join together if they share a similar vision in life. They work together throughout life to fulfill that vision. If there are any issues within the marriage, then the larger family and community must come together to help solve it. Using this process, the married couple stays together for the sake of the greater community. But, American society isnt community oriented so...

You have a point its easier to just live together and share responsibility with no strings attached and if you were to ever split then you wouldnt have to get a divorce and go through all the pain that comes with it. But there are some good men out there who marry because they know that they want to spend the rest of their life with that special woman and to prove that they really do love her they propose and hopefully live happily everafter and know that running around is over and here is only one woman for them but it doesnt all work that way. Sometimes when you know that you love someone you want to get them before they get away but you need to make sure that you are ready for commitment and all the work that is put into a marriage to make it work. So not all men are crazy just the ones who cheat on their spouses including the wives to. So if living together w/ no strings attached works for you then go for it.

Insurance goes down, paychecks go up, tax write-off's are huge, the state literally rewards you and so there's some reason for ya.

I still believe in marriage. I don't see it as a peice of paper. Actually now, I see it as life's biggest challenege and I feel I'm up for the game. I'm gonna take all the non-believers, the shallow, the self-absorbed ******* and I'm gonna show them that 2 people can still love and respect and do marriage the way it's supposed to be done!

Because they love somebody and want to commit to them, that's why. That's what marriage is. Plus, there are a lot of legal benefits that come with it, not just the medical insurance that you mentioned. For example, do you know that you won't have visitation rights to visit your partner in the hospital if you're not married? Why do you think that so many gay people are fighting for their right to have their partnerships legally recognized?

What you seem to be looking for is someone to say, "Yes! You're absolutely right." From the way you worded your "question," I get the feeling that this is not an actual request for information, but a please-agree-with-me plea (or, more accurately, an I'm- right- and- everyone- who- disagrees- is- wrong statement). Hopefully, you will permit yourself to be open-minded enough to learn something from the people who will undoubtedly treat your query seriously and try to give you real answers. But I doubt it. You seem too opinionated to do that.

To you it might be just a piece of paper, but if guys aren't willing to sign that piece of paper, then we (women) feel he isn't ready to commit and get ready to move on. Marriage is a wonderful thing when you really think about it. good luck with your bad views on marriage

To make a lifetime commitment and sticking with it. As well as being a good role model for the children. Life is sticking to what you got and making it right! Running away when it gets tough is not the right answer!

well, if you live with her long enough you would still have to get a divorce because it would then be called commonlaw marriage. I know a guy who is going through this with his wife. the reason for their divorce? -he never officially married her so she felt kinda worthless and like he was just using her for you-know-what...

Now a days the girls just give it a way. No need to put a ring on their finger or even treat them like anything other than dirt.
Look at all the answers from the women, How many are virgins. Show me a virgin then we'll talk marriage. Women just give it away no commitment needed!
